Skudeneset Vineyard, Willow Farm & Høllen

OVERVIEW

Visit a unique vineyard known for its wine-making and basket-weaving and spend time exploring the nearby fishing village of Høllen. While touring the family-owned Skudeneset vineyard, you will learn about the challenges of producing wine in the Nordic climate. Its grapes are grown using biodynamic farming principles that place a premium on natural processes. It is a difference you can taste, as you will discover while sampling wines that may include a sparkling rosé, a white made from Solaris grapes and a mead that contains honey collected from the estate’s apiary. Skudeneset also grows willow that is used for elaborate baskets. A master basketweaver will demonstrate the technique and show you several finished products. Later, in Høllen, you can follow the guide or explore on your own. Either way, you will surely be impressed by this small atmospheric village, especially its colorful wooden houses. The ones along the waterfront are especially photogenic.
