Beware: Avoiding Scams

Recruiting Scams

Norwegian Cruise Line has established partnerships with reputable hiring partners around the world. They are responsible for screening and processing candidates in specific regions for potential employment on board our ships. Our hiring partners will never require candidates to pay an application fee, processing fee or agency fees. If you are being asked to remit monies as part of your employment application with Norwegian Cruise Line, please be aware this is a fraudulent solicitation.

Email Phishing

Norwegian Cruise Line has become aware of a heightened effort to solicit job-seekers through e-mail phishing. Individuals falsely acting as Norwegian recruiters are actively distributing fictitious job offer letters, employment contracts and in some cases, they are requesting Visa applications to be returned. If you receive questionable communication, please contact the approved Hiring Partner for your area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn more about what it's like to live and work on board a cruise ship. So many of your questions and curiosities can be answered here about cruise ship jobs!

What makes cruise ship employment so unique?

Working on a ship means you live and work onboard. This also means it is a 7-day work week with 10+ combined hours per day.

Is this a full time job?

Employment on a cruise ship is definitely a full-time position. However, due to the intensity of shipboard work & life, it is on an assignment rotation basis

How long is the assignment?

Assignments vary depending on the position and the brand. For most of our fleet, assignment length ranges from between four (4) months through nine (9) months depending on the position.

What About Time Off?

That's the best part. Although you work seven (7) days a week while on assignment, crew members get a bulk time off upon completion of the assignment period. It's like banking your days off and taking it all at once.

How do I get to the ship?

For most assignments, Norwegian Cruise Line will provide full transportation from your home to the ship and back for the full assignment period. In some locations, we'll even have someone meet you.

Do I need travel documents?

Valid passports are needed for all our new crew members. New hires that are not US citizens, US Permanent Residents or Canadian will need to obtain a C1/D Visa.
