OVERVIEW

Cruise into the pristine waters off La Gomera in a high-speed boat that can quickly approach whales and dolphins for an even closer look. Chances are, you will spot a number of them breaching the water’s surface as the cetaceans are permanent residents not migratory. The boat can speedily reach even distant animals, a benefit that will increase your chances of seeing more marine creatures. Some of them may come unexpectedly close to the boat, especially dolphins, which often swim along the bow. Besides seeing common dolphins such as the bottlenose, you might spot rough-toothed dolphins, a more primitive-looking species that often swims with its beak and chin out of the water. Sperm whales are just as easy to identify because of their enormous square heads and narrow lower jaws. The legendary Moby Dick was a sperm whale, although a rare albino. Bryde’s whales and Blainville’s beaked whales also inhabit these waters.
