Although the margarita was supposedly invented in Ensenada farther up the Baja California Peninsula, the cocktail has become a signature drink throughout Mexico. A bartender will teach you how to prepare your own La Paz-style margarita. Craft beers are also extraordinarily popular and you will be served two of the finest. Whether the beers are available year-round or only seasonally, they will likely be brewed with local ingredients. At the third venue, you will sample mezcal. Although similar to tequila – which can only be made from Blue Weber agave – mezcal can be made from any agave plant, so there is a greater variety of tastes. However, mezcal typically has a signature smoky flavor that comes from cooking the heart of the agave in underground pits. As a special treat, you can snack on crickets, a local delicacy.
