OVERVIEW

Enjoy tours and tastings at two esteemed wineries around Albany, a sub-section of the vast Great Southern wine region that makes the most of its Mediterranean-like climate. The carbon-neutral vineyard at Oranje Tractor Wines wasn’t planted until 1998 but it didn’t take long for the organic wines produced from its grapes to become acclaimed. During the immersive tasting experience in the cellar, you will sample a flight of five wines – Riesling being the dominant one – thoughtfully paired with locally sourced delicacies. At Paul Nelson Wines, a family owned and operated vineyard & winery, you will taste through some of the most awarded wines in the Great Southern. Sourcing fruit from their own vineyards, the oldest planted in 1968, you will see an amazing cross spectrum of wines and styles. All wines are made using a variety of winemaking medium such as clay amphora and large foudre casks. Paul's winemaking philosophy is drawn upon from his many years working overseas and all wines are made to reflect each vineyards personality. During this visit, Paul will impart his many years of experience and guide you through a seasonal range of wines paired with local cheeses and music.
